GOLF HISTORY LESSON:
It was at this Long Island course that J.B. Coles Tappan invented a match play-scoring system now known around the world as a "nassau."

It was also here that the legendary amateur Bobby Jones (1902-1971) acquired the now-famous "Calamity Jane" putter from head professional Jim Maiden (brother of Stuart Maiden, Jones' coach); this putter is now in the USGA museum in New Jersey for all visitors to see.
